Dear Friends:

Anchoring the University of Delaware's Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics are four important cornerstones.  First is a talented faculty whose intellectual contributions enhance programs and provide added value to students and to Delaware's corporate community.  Next, the student body has a remarkably high academic profile and outstanding credentials.  Third is the college's commitment to innovation and technology.  And the fourth is the international perspective that is woven throughout the college's programs.  All of these cornerstones support the college's commitment to providing students with the tools and resources necessary to reach their highest goals.

The College is involved in a significant number of innovative activities dedicated to the enhancement of our programs and its students.  At the undergraduate level, we have established both mentorship and internship programs.  Students have the opportunity to learn more about various career options through our newly-launched mentorship program that began in September 2007.  Both the internship program and the Executive Mentors-Scholars program enable students to gain valuable experience prior to graduation by working in a business-related environment, either during the summer or part-time throughout the semesters.  At the graduate level, we offer one of the nation’s most innovative career-study options, the Corporate Associates Program.  It provides MBA students with extensive high-level work experience while attending class.  And, in the international arena, the University’s distinction of being one of the top-ranked schools in study abroad participation among the nation’s public colleges means that there is a large array of travel-study options for our undergraduate and graduate students.

Thanks to the support and input from our alumni and friends, visions become realities.  Two such examples include our nationally renowned Weinberg Center for Corporate Governance and the College's trading lab.  This Exelon Trading Center is an advanced, high-tech simulated trading center that enables students to stay current with the fast-paced world of financial markets. We are moving forward with great enthusiasm to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. The combination of strong, innovative business programs utilizing cutting-edge technology tempered with close interaction with outstanding professors as well as fellow students distinguishes us as a top-ranked AACSB accredited business school. Accept the challenge and join us!

Sincerely,

Conrado (Bobby) M. Gempesaw II
