The Lerner College promotion and tenure and workload policies, which are consistent with the Lerner College mission, are in place to manage and support faculty members over the progression of their careers, including teaching assignment and intellectual expectations, and the formal periodic review, promotion and reward processes. In addition, annual performance evaluation and planning processes, information on two- and four-year reviews and contract renewals and explanations of post tenure reviews may be found in the UD Faculty Handbook online at http://www.udel.edu/provost/fachb/.  Department chairs are held accountable to follow the guidelines in the UD Faculty Handbook to ensure adequate student-faculty contact across learning experiences and set high expectations for instructional effectiveness.  At the department level, criteria specific to the faculty appraisal process is outlined in department-specific promotion and tenure documents.
