A Diverse and Stimulating Undergraduate Academic Environment
- Expand the diversity of the academic environment through partnering with other academic units by: a) working with the Mathematics department in strengthening and expanding the Math Economics major; and, b) collaborating with Urban Affairs in establishing a new Public Policy major.

A Premiere Research and Graduate University
- Initiate a Ph.D. in Economic Education, jointly with the School of Education. This program will capitalize on existing strengths in economic education (CEEE and MAEEE) and will enable faculty to partner with SOE.
- Enhance and promote the existing Ph.D. program and establish it as a program with national recognition in applied economics.
- Establish an MS program with an emphasis on applied econometrics.
- Initiate a Ph.D. in Economic Education, jointly with the School of Education. This program will capitalize on existing strengths in economic education (CEEE and MAEEE) and will enable faculty to partner with SOE.

Excellence in Professional Education
- Increase the diversity of the faculty through strategic hires with first priority directed toward hiring faculty at the senior level.

- Continue to offer study abroad programs in support of the University’s global initiative.
- Support and host visiting international scholars.
- Continue to offer study abroad programs in support of the University’s global initiative.

The Engaged University
- The Economics Department will play a lead role in a new Center for Business and Economic Research and collaborate closely with the new state government administration.
