Lance T. Shaner

Mr. Lance T. Shaner is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Shaner Hotel Group, based in State College, Pennsylvania. In his extensive business career he has worked in finance, venture capital, and specializes in contract negotiations and acquisitions.

In 1988, Lance felt that Texas represented excellent investment opportunities in the hotel field. Starting with one investment in 1988 in San Antonio, Shaner Hotel Group's portfolio grew to seventeen hotels in Texas which were purchased at advantageous prices. The company now owns and manages 53 hotels in 20 states. Brand affiliations include Marriott, Promus, Radisson, Holiday, Omni, and Embassy Suites. In addition, under Lance's guidance, Shaner Hotel Group executed an innovative nationwide franchise agreement with TGI Friday's restaurants, allowing the installation of Friday's restaurants under the direct management of Shaner Hotel Group in several hotels.

Lance serves on the Board of Directors of United Way and the YMCA in State College and is a graduate of Alfred University. In the past he has been an advocate for disadvantaged children and worked in the develop-ment and construction of homes for lower income individuals. Lance is the father of three children, Sarah, Justin and Matt and has been married for over 20 years to his wife, Ellen.

Lance, along with his brother Fred, provide the senior management for Shaner Hotel Group LP and Shaner Energy. These entities collectively employee over 4,000 people and have sales in excess of $200,000,000 per year.
