Save the Date - March 19, 2014 - Corporate Governance Symposium
The Center will be hosting its 2014 Corporate Governance Symposium, “Governance Issues of Critical Importance to Institutional Investors in 2014.” The Symposium will begin with a panel of institutional investors comprised of large money managers, pension funds, private equity investors, and proxy advisory firms, during which each panelist will share what matters most to them. The Symposium will then continue with the presentation of four academic papers on topics that are of critical importance to institutional investors today. Save the Date – April 22, 2014 - "Enhancing the Audit Committee Report: A Call to Action"
The Center will be co-sponsoring a roundtable on April 22, 2014 with the Center for Audit Quality at the University of Delaware. The program will be based on the recent report issued by a group of corporate governance and policy organizations, “Enhancing the Audit Committee Report – A Call to Action.” The Audit Committee Collaboration calls on audit committees of public companies of all sizes and industries to proactively strengthen their public disclosures in order to more effectively convey to investors and others the critical aspects of the important work that audit committees currently perform.

Weinberg Article on the "Management Knowledge-Captured Board
Ann C. Mulé, Associate Director, and Charles M. Elson, Director, of the Weinberg Center, have recently published an article in the first quarter 2014 edition of Directors & Boards magazine. The article is about the importance of independent director industry expertise on a public company board and the dangers of a “management knowledge-captured board.”

Delaware Law Issues Update
On November 20 – 21, 2013, the first Delaware Law Issues Update conference co-sponsored by the Weinberg Center and the Society of Corporate Secretaries & Governance Professionals, in partnership with the State of Delaware, took place on the University of Delaware campus. The conference was co-chaired by partners at leading Delaware and Wall Street law firms. The panels covered recent Delaware case law and the proactive steps that should be taken by those who regularly advise boards of directors. For more information, see Past Events - 2013.
