Student Awards & Scholarships
The Department of Economics offers several awards and scholarships for undergraduate economics majors.

Lanier Prize: |
This award honors Professor Charles Lanier, who taught in the Department of Economics from 1940 to 1973 and served as Department Chair for many of those years. It is for top graduating seniors, and selection is based on overall academic achievement. |
| Distinguished Panel of Seniors: | This honor is for top seniors, and selection is based on overall academic achievement. |
| Levin Prize: | This award, named in honor of Emeritus Professor of Economics Bertram Levin, recognizes a senior economics major who exhibits a high level of intellectual curiosity and creativity in the study of economics. |
| Hutchinson Scholars: | This award is named in honor of Professor Harry Hutchinson who taught in the Department of Economics for 30 years until his retirement in 1989. This award goes to top junior economics majors. Selection is based on overall academic achievement. |
| Lanier Scholarship: | This scholarship, which also honors Professor Charles Lanier, is awarded to two students after completion of their sophomore year. Selection is based on academic achievement. |
