Undergraduate Student Advising

Academic advising is available to all students.  Advisors can help students make decisions with course selection, maintaining progress toward degree, and career goals.  Students are encouraged to discuss their academic progress with their advisor.

All freshmen and sophomores are advised by the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Services which is located in 102 Purnell Hall, Tel: (302) 831-4369.

Lerner College junior and senior students and honor students are assigned to a program advisor in the department of their major.  Students should check with their program advisor to be certain that the requirements of the BS programs are being correctly met. Senior checkouts are approved by your undergraduate program advisor the semester before graduation. Click here for a Finance Check Sheet which needs to be completed and submitted with the Senior Checkout form to Ms. Rollo in 307 Purnell Hall.  Senior Checkout forms can be obtained from our office in 306 or 307 Purnell Hall or from the Office of Undergraduate Advising and Academic Services in 102 Purnell Hall.

Would you like to change your major to Finance?

There is no deadline to apply for the Finance major as there are "rolling" year-round admissions.  To apply, go to UDSIS--Forms--Change Program/Plan.

What are your chances of being admitted?  You must have completed at least 28 course credit hours at the University of Delaware to be eligible to apply for admission into most of the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics majors, including Finance.  Included in these 28 course credit hours, you must have successfully completed Math 221 (Calculus I) or Math 241 (Analytic Geometry and Calculus A) and Econ 151 (Microeconomics) and Econ 152 (Macroeconomics).

In the Finance degree program, 82% (or 134 of the 163 applicants) were admitted.  The grade point average was 3.09.

See Mr. Peter Danby in 321 Purnell Hall if you would like more information or if you have questions about being admitted.
