Dr. Montgomery - Biographical Highlights

Dr. Douglas C. Montgomery is Regents’ Professor of Industrial Engineering and Statistics and ASU Foundation Professor of Engineering at Arizona State University.   Professor Montgomery's industrial experience includes engineering assignments with Union Carbide Corporation and Eli Lilly and Company.   He also has extensive consulting experience with many national and international organizations. His consulting clients include IBM, The Coca-Cola Company, Boeing, ALCOA, Intel, AT&T, Amoco, Medtronic, Pfizer, and numerous electronics, biopharmaceutical and medical device companies and electric utilities.  He has lectured extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and the Far East.

 

Professor Montgomery is an author of twelve textbooks that have appeared in over 30 English editions and numerous foreign languages.   His texts "Design and Analysis of Experiments" and "Introduction to Statistical Quality Control"
are the most widely used textbooks for these courses worldwide.

 

He is a recipient of the Shewhart Medal, the William G. Hunter Award, the Brumbaugh Award, the Lloyd S. Nelson Award, a two-time recipient of the Shewell Award from the American Society for Quality, the Deming Lecture Award from the American Statistical Association, the George Box Medal from the European Network for Business and Industrial Statistics, the Greenfield Medal from the Royal Statistical Society, and the Ellis R.
