SBTDC: Business Research Assistant
The Delaware Small Business Technology Development Center is a center within the Office of Economic Innovation & Partnerships (OEIP - www.udel.edu/gateway ) that provides information, training and counseling to potential and existing small businesses. This position will be located at the DSBTDC's main operating office at 1 Innovation Way, Newark, Delaware 19711.
The position will assist the DSBTDC’s Business Advisors in their service to clients by doing research and providing other support for client firms. This may include some or all of the following: researching the current status and trends in an industry, locating suppliers of a particular product or service, evaluating the competition in a given industry or region, developing a profile of the target market for a given business, statistical analysis of a target market. End product of research may be a report of findings to an advisor and client or may involve integrating the information into a business plan, and developing standard financial documents such as balance sheet, income statement and cash flow projections.
May also assist in developing information publications related to small business. May meet directly with clients either at Newark location or at a client's business providing information and technical assistance. Other duties may be assigned as appropriate with the needs of the DSBTDC and the abilities and skills of the Research Associate. A strong technology background and experience with Microsoft Excel/Word is desired. Should have experience in business research using library resources and online databases.
