ACCOUNTING 364 – “Accounting in Practice”

This course is an internship in an accounting firm or with an accounting department in a corporation. It is for accounting majors who have had intermediate accounting and is normally completed during the summer between the junior and senior years.  Students obtain their own internship through the help of Career Services Center. They will be listed on Blue Hen Careers.  Typical companies include the Big Four, local CPA firms, DuPont, and major banks.  Student must have the internship approved by the instructor  in charge of the course.  There is a 2-3 page paper required detailing the work experience and a communication from the firm offering the internship verifying that the student completed the required work.  This course can be used to meet the required Discovery Learning Experience (DLE).  Either Accounting 363 or 364 can be used to meet an accounting elective requirement (but not both). MISY 364  “MIS in Practice”

MIS majors and MIS minors also have various internship opportunities working in the field of Management Information Systems where a student’s academic knowledge can be applied to a real world technology situation.  Students obtain their own internship through the help of Career Services Center. They will be listed on Blue Hen Careers.  Typical companies include the Big Four, banks, corporations and non-profit organizations. Students/Employers must submit a detailed description of the internship experience which must be approved by both the Area Head of MIS and the MIS Project Coordinator. This course meets the University’s requirements for the Discovery Learning Experience, which every student must have to graduate.
