Wireless network hubs are installed in the student lounges and common areas in both Purnell Hall, Alfred Lerner Hall, and in some classrooms. Wireless hubs will allow convenient access to Lerner College networked computing resources for those with properly equipped laptops. Wireless hubs are also being installed for selected classrooms in Purnell and Alfred Lerner Hall as well as in various locations around campus.

  • You will need a 802.11b wireless network adapter to gain access

As noted above in the recommended computing configurations, the basic software used in the College is MS Office 2003 Professional. The majority of software and applications used in Lerner College classes, other than Office 2003 Pro, will be available through the Lerner College computing network. As a student, you will have significantly more convenient access to all computing resources from your own "personal computer". Computing labs are configured to support teaching and software demonstration and will only be available for general computing when not scheduled for classes. You will find open access to e-mail stations in student lounges and commons areas, as well as wireless hubs to facilitate network access from laptops.

The Lerner College boasts the following advanced computing resources:

  • An SAP "Enterprise-wide" software system (used in a variety of courses to demonstrate integrated information technology)
  • A group decision support environment (to facilitate group decision making exercises)
  • An e-commerce server (to facilitate experimentation with e-commerce environments)
  • Multiple Windows 2003 development servers (to support the development of local and web applications)
  • Multiple Microsoft SQL database servers (to facilitate exposure to client/server technology)
  • Wireless network access from a variety of classrooms and convenient locations
