Venture Development Center

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

The Venture Development CenterTM (VDC) is an applied learning laboratory for UD students pursuing entrepreneurship through the creation of a new business. Individual students and participants will receive administrative office space enabling them to concentrate on developing their business concepts.  Because the facility is an extension of the entrepreneurship programs offered by UD, students will also receive intensive mentoring and a variety of other assistance. 

Facilities and programming include:

  • Furnished administrative work area
  • High-speed internet access
  • Mentoring and conference rooms available
  • Office services and equipment including printer, fax, copier, and limited office supplies
  • Mentoring from staff, community leaders, and entrepreneurs
  • Business plan counseling
  • On-site management seminars, workshops, and guest speakers featuring topics important to entrepreneurs starting a business
  • Access to venture capital resources, private investors, and local service providers
  • Social events and networking
  • Business and resource library

ELIGIBILITY

All currently enrolled full time graduate and undergraduate UD students in good standing are welcome and encouraged to participate!  To begin the process, students must submit an application, including a thorough business plan, and go through a selection process/review.  This process may include an interview with VDC staff .

  • Ability to articulate business model and entrepreneurial opportunity
  • Desire or motivation to succeed
  • Participation in academic and non-academic programs
  • Willingness to adhere to policies and procedures of the program and facility
  • Discretion of VDC staff
